Seminar on Concussion and Sports Injuries Prevention 2014-05-07 16:35:00

Carbery South West Division are organising an informative seminar on Concussion in Sport and Sport Injury Prevention AT 3.00PM ON Saturday the 10th May at Wolf Tone Park, Bantry.

The guest speaker for this event is Dr Michael Molloy, Consultant Rheumatologist, at Cork University Hospital. Michael has had a distinguished career working in this field of medicine, and also brings a wealth of experience from his own playing day in his youth, when he played rugby with Connacht and was capped 27 times for Ireland. Also some time after he retired as a player he served as team doctor to the Irish Rugby Team for a good number of years where he dealt with all types of sports injuries including concussion.  He was also appointed Medical Doctor to the International Rugby Board, a unique appointment.

This event should be of interest to all team mentors/managers in the division and could help them to identify injuries such as concussion more quickly and thus removing the injured player from the field of play and so avoiding more serious consequences down the road. The discussion will be an open forum following a short presentation by Dr. Michael.

This event is open to all clubs in the Carbery Division ,but club secretaries wil have to register  with Finian O' Sullivan through email address:  Developmentofficer.carbery.cork@gaa.ieDevelopmentofficer.carbery.cork@gaa.ie> to confirm numbers from your club that will attend this event .Up to three persons can attend from each club.
