Tadhg MacCarthaigh Ladies Football

Once again the Tadhg MacCarthaigh ladies season comes to a victorious conclusion.

For the second time in three seasons the ladies clinched the West Cork Junior championship, after producing their best performance of the season against Dunmanway in the final. The Caheragh ladies have additional reason for celebration, as they were awarded the Buckley Financial Team of the Month for September 2011, for their endeavours in securing the West Cork Championship. Sadly, however, the ladies were unable to continue their rich championship form, which had seen them reach two county finals in as many seasons and were defeated by Courcey Rovers after a titanic battle in the quarter final. The ladies also reached the semi final of the Cork County league where they were defeated by the well deserving overall winners - Fermoy. The ladies would like to thank their trainers for the year, James O'Donovan, Niall O'Regan, Pa O'Connor and Declan Coppinger. Thanks to Finbarr Hourihan, Sean Collins, Mary McCarthy Lewis and all at Caheragh GAA Club for their assistance and support throughout the year. Special thanks, also to the well wishers and supporters of the team throughout the year.

The ladies are currently taking a much needed break from football, but will reconvene in January 2012 to commence pre-season training. In the interim the Tadhg MacCarthaigh ladies will hold their annual fundraising pub quiz on Thursday, 29th December in the Coachman's Inn. The quiz begins at 7.30pm sharp and tables of four are €40. This night is to be held in conjunction with ladies medal presentation for the West Cork Championship.

The U.14 Caheragh girls also had a solid season in progressing their skills and knowhow. With an early victory over St. Colum's in the league the girls applied themselves well to all their games with mixed results. The girls concluded the season in victorious fashion with victory over near neighbours Skibbereen after an entertaining game. Huge thanks to all the players, their parents and organisers during the year. A special mention to - Mike Noonan (trainer) and Marguerite Crowley for their hard work and commitment throughout the year.
