Club History - 2001

U21 Championship
In the first round we played O'Donovan Rossa where we got an ideal start with a goal and point in the first few minutes of the match. However O'Donovan Rossa dominated the rest of the match and came out winners on a score of 1-13 to 1-3.

Junior A League
In the League we won six of our games beating, Urhan, Garnish, Bandon, Ilen Rovers, Gabriel Rangers and Adrigole and lost two of our games. We qualified for the league final where we played St. Colums in Bantry on 11th November. We began reasonably well but in the second half St. Colums fitness showed against our side and ended strongly to win at a score of 12 points to 8.

Countrywide Junior A Championship
In the first round we played Ballydesmond where we won on a score of 3-12 to 2-11.

In the second round we played Liscarroll where we won easily on a score of 1-19 to 2-2.

In the third round we played Ballygarvan where we won on a score of 1-12 to 9 points.

In the fourth round we played Mitchelstown where we eventually won on a score of 1-10 to 2-5.

In the Quarter Final we played Adrigole who were far more fit than us and beat us on a score of 1-11 to 1-5.

Junior A Championship
In the first round we played Ballinascarthy where we started well but did not get really into the game until the second half where we came out winners on a score of 1-10 to 6 points.

In the second round we played D. Ó Mathunas who got a goal in the first minute which we struggled to overcome throughout the game however we drew the match in the last few minutes with a number of frees.

In the replay it was another tight contest however we won the game on a score of 1-9 to 8 points.

In the Semi-Final we played Ilen Rovers who controlled the game from the start and won the game convincingly by a score of 3-16 to 6 points.

Minor League
We lost two games and won two beating Kilmacabea and St. Marys.

Minor Championship
In the first round we played Kilmacabea which was an evenly matched contest however we won on a score of 4-10 to 1-7.

In the second round we played St. Colums who dominated the game until in the last five minutes we scored 1-4 to draw the game at a score of St. Colums 3-13 to 2-7.

In the replay we played some good football to win on a score of 2-9 to 2-7.

In the West Cork Final we played St. Marys in Dunmanway on 20th October where both teams missed a lot of scoring chances in the first half, however the second half was a more even contest. We won the game on a score of 2-7 to 1-8.

In the County Quarter Final we played Ballygarvan at Newcestown on 28th October. We got some great scores in the first half to make us lead at half time. We were under pressure in the second half however maintained control and won on a score of 2-12 to 1-7.

In the Semi-Final we played Castletownbere at Bantry on 18th November where we played some good football to win convincingly on a score of 3-8 to 6 points.

In the County Final we played Killeagh/St. Itas at Brinny on 2nd December. We played poorly in the first quarter where we conceded two easy goals which proved to be the difference we could not overcome. Killeagh/St. Itas won on a score of 3-10 to 1-10.

Junior C League
We played a total of five games, winning three losing one and drawing with Kilmacabea.

Junior C Championship
In the first round we played Bandon where we dominated possession for most of the game winning on a score of 13 points to 2-3.

In the second round we played Barryroe in an even contest however we finished strongly to win on a score of 2-8 to 12 points.

In the Semi-Final we met O'Donovan Rossa we dominated a lot of possession however failed to convert our chances and although finished strong lost on a score of 1-10 to 8 points.
