Junior footballers warm up for championship with league win

Tadgh MacCarthaigh’s junior A footballers had their final league game before the championship when they travelled to Barryroe last Friday evening to play the locals.

This was a closely fought encounter with little between two evenly matched teams, which was reflected in the half-time score of 1-5 to 0-8.

The sides were still level with time almost up, however three late points gave Caheragh victory, 0-16 to 1-10. The first-round championship game against St James goes ahead this Sunday, April 20th, in Leap at 3pm.

Cork action

Brian O’Driscoll played a leading role for the Cork U21 footballers in their Munster final victory over Tipperary on Wednesday evening of last week at Páirc Uí Rinn while his father Gene was the team coach.

Next Saturday Cork takes on Roscommon in the All-Ireland U21 semi-final at Portlaoise.

Kevin O’Driscoll came on as a late substitute for the Cork senior footballers in their league semi-final defeat to Dublin last Sunday.

Ladies’ GAA

Caheragh ladies played their second league game at home on Friday night. The opposition, Ilen Rovers, proved too strong and they ran out winners on a score of 4-8 to 3-5.
