News week Beginning 01 July 2013 2013-07-02 18:19:00

Pride of place this week goes to the  under 12 footballers who played their final
league game against Castlehaven last Saturday in Aughaville. They were unbeaten
going into this game and victory would ensure they finished top of the group.
The first half was very tight and low scoring with Caheragh one point in
arrears at the short whistle. The level of performance improved greatly in the
second half and some excellent scores combined with stout defending ensured a
great victory on a final scoreline of 4-6 to 2-6. The team played some great
football and now go forward as group winners to the next stage unbeaten.

The Junior A footballers continued with league action on
Friday evening last when they travelled to take on Oliver Plunketts. A win was
vital to keep their league hopes alive and they duly obliged turning in a solid
display on the night to run out winners on a final scoreline of 2-13 to 0-9.
The draw for the next round of the Championship goes ahead next weekend.

 Ladies Football:

The Caheragh ladies returned to action last weekend after a
hiatus for exams.  The ladies made the
trip to Clonakilty on Sunday  23rd
June, for a challenge match against their hosts.  It has been some time since the ladies last
played but the break didn't appear to affect them as they put together a very
solid and cohesive team performance producing some eye catching scores
throughout.  The ladies continued their
winning ways when they played host to Muintir Bhaire
in another challenge game on Sunday, 30th June.  This was a more work man like performance
with the ladies doing enough to get the victory.  While both games obviously lacked competitive
edge it was a very positive way to resume the season and the ladies will look
to build upon these victories.  The draws
for the county championship have been made and the Tadhg MacCarthaigh ladies
have been drawn against local opposition in the form of Rosscarbery and
Dohenys.
