14th September 2013 Junior footballers just one game away from successful defence
Tadgh MacCartháigh’s junior A footballers are back in a second successive South West final, after beating St Oliver Plunkett’s (3-10 to 1-5) in the semi-final, under lights in Dunmanway on Friday night.
A repeat of the 2012 final, which Caheragh won, it was an impressive win for the champions, who meat St Colum’s in the final.
The team management knows that a huge improvement will be needed in the final if they are to retain the title for the first time ever.
No date has yet been confirmed for this attractive game.
Next Sunday, the Carbery senior footballers take on champions Castlehaven in the county SFC semi-final at Páirc Uí Chaoimh with a number of Caheragh players involved with Carbery.

Celebrating first West Cork title for U14 girls
On Saturday last, October 6th, the Tadhg MacCarthaigh U14 girls made history by clinching their first ever West Cork championship title after a hard-fought victory over Keelnameela.
A large crowd witnessed an absorbing contest that flowed from end to end. Holding a four-point advantage at the interval, the Tadhg Mac-Carthaigh girls were rattled when Keelnameela scored an early second-half goal to leave the bare minimum between the sides. The Caheragh girls rallied again to extend their lead only for Keelnameela to reel them back in with another goal. In the end, however, the Caheragh girls proved too strong for gallant Keelnameela and were crowned champions on a score of 3-7 to 4-1.
Congratulations to the girls and to their hard-working trainers, Gillian and Rory O’Neill, as well as Aisling O’Flaherty and Robert O’Flaherty.
