County final on Sunday 8th January 2011
The re-scheduled county minor league final 2010, Tadhg Mac Cárthaigh against Urhan, has been provisionally fixed for next Sunday, January 9th, in Kealkil at 2.30pm.
The Scór na nÓg county final went ahead last Thursday, December 30th, in Ovens GAA hall. The club were represented in the quiz by Dan, Sean and Ellen McCarthy. They produced a very high standard of answering to re-capture the county title which they last held in 2009, defeating the 2010 champions, Boherbue, into second place. Caheragh scored 72 points out of a possible 84 compared to Boherbue’s 62 points. The team now progress to the Munster semi-final on Saturday next in Millstreet at 7pm.
29th January 2011 Social on February 26th
Caheragh GAA Club are holding a buffet, social and presentation of medals on Saturday February 26th in the West Cork Hotel, Skibbereen.
County and West Cork league medals will be presented to the successful minor team along with the junior A league medals. All players, members and parishioners are asked to turn out and support this gathering.
The Tadhg Mac Cárthaigh ladies would like to extend a huge thank you to all of those who took part in the recent quiz and supported the fundraiser. A fantastic night was had by all, helped greatly by the assistance of the Coachman’s Inn and quiz master John McCarthy.
14th May 2011 Caheragh GAA Important win for ladies against Clon
The Tadhg MacCarthaigh ladies had the daunting task of playing Clonakilty on their home turf on Friday April 29th in the county junior league.
A win for the ladies would cement their place in the county league semi-final.
After what can only be described as a dismal first-half performance, Caheragh were incredibly fortunate to only trail at the interval by three points, 0-4 to 0-1.
On the resumption, Caheragh began with a renewed sense of urgency and completed their comeback on a final score of 1-8 to 0-8 to claim an important victory .
The Tadhg MacCarthaigh ladies are holding a leg waxing and head shaving fundraiser in the Coachman’s Inn on Saturday next, May 14th. All are welcome and support would be greatly appreciated.
On Friday night last the junior A team played Oliver Plunketts in Ahiohill. It was a poor performance overall and Caheragh were defeated by a much sharper side on the night, going down by 2-13 to 2-7.
On Sunday morning a much depleated side faced Ballygarvan in Aughaville in the Carbery/Carrigdoun Cup and despite a spirited display, were defeated by 2-12 to 1-3.The U14 football league continued on Thursday night last in Kealkil, when the team came up against a strong Colum’s side and were beaten on a score of 3-14 to 2-3.
