Tadgh Mac Cárthaigh GAA News 2017-03-28 08:43:00

There has been a flurry of playing activity over the last few weeks with most teams in the club in league action. The junior A footballers were away to Dohenys on Sunday week last in the Carbery Beara league and after a close game in poor weather conditions recorded a victory on a scoreline of 2-9 to 1-9, while on Sunday last they were at home to Boherbue in the County league and despite losing a player just before the break, held on for a great win on a final score of 1-8 to 1-7.

The under 21 team played St.James in the first round of the Championship on St.Patrick’s day and with a very young team put up a brave display which just came up short against a physically stronger Ardfield side, final score 3-9 to 2-7. Next Sunday Caheragh will play the Semi-Final of the plate competition against Goleen in Ballydehob at 12 noon.

The under 16 footballers also got their league programme under way on Sunday week when they  had a merited home victory against Urhan on a score of 7-12 to 3.8 while on Saturday last the minor team suffered a narrow defeat to Castletownbere on a score of  3-8 to 2-8.

The under 11 footballers have played two games and while they were defeated by Adrigole and Castlehaven, they were extremely compeditive showing great potential in both matches. The under 10 team were away to Ballinscarthy  on Sat week last and lost narrowly on a final scoreline of  5-3 to 3.5 while the under 14 footballers were away to Glengarriffe on Sat last and ran out comfortable winners on a score of 4-15 to 3-8.
