U14 B Football Semi Final 2015-06-18 10:53:00

The under 14 footballers played the Semi-Final of the B Championship against Ilen Rovers last Saturday evening at a sunny Skibbereen venue. The team started very slowly and were rocked with a hat trick of goals from a Rovers team that were much physically stronger. After twenty minutes Caheragh found themselves nine points in arrears a lead that was reduced to six at the break. The team were transformed in the second half and set about reducing the deficit from the throw in. Some well taken points along with a goal from Eugene Daly had the teams level with full time approaching. A late penalty converted by Dylan Murray seemed to have secured victory, however an Ilen goal on the stroke of full time meant some nerve wracking moments before the final whistle sounded and their place in the final was secured by the narrowest of margins on a final scoreline of 2-13 to 4-6.

The team gave a superb display in the second half and richly deserve their place in the Final against a fancied Ballinscarthy team who defeated Bantry in the other Semi-final.

The final goes ahead this Saturday 20th June in Enniskeane at 6.30pm, it is hoped a big crowd of supporters will travel and get behind the team who will go into the game as underdogs.
