The under 16 footballers were in Championship action on Wednesday of last week when

they travelled to Church Cross to take on Muintir na Gael in a quarter final game. They

were far too strong for their opponents on this occasion and ran out easy winners to claim

a semi-final place against Naomh Aban who defeated Bantry by a single point. The minor

team will also be in Championship action against Gabriel Rangers this weekend, check

locally for fixture details.

The under 14 footballers are preparing for their Championship quarter final against

Castletownbere later this month while the under 12 team will also have their Cup

competition shortly.

The under 10 team played Ilen Og in Church Cross on Thursday last in the Michael D.

Whooley Cup. Despite a brave performance they lost to a strong Ilen team.

The Junior A footballers completed their Carbery- Beara league programme recently with

victories over Kilbrittan and Castlehaven. They have won promotion to Division 1 and

qualified for the league final against Championship victors St. Oliver Plunketts. This

Ladies:

The U.16 girls will have to do it all again if they are to be crowned West Cork

champions. The girls recently lined out against Beara to serve up an absorbing battle,

with the lead changing hands on numerous occasions, The game ended in a draw, final

scoreline 1.08 to 2.05. The replay has yet to be finalised but has been pencilled in for

Tuesday 12 th September, check locally for confirmation. The junior ladies have had a

busy few weeks, commencing with the county championship.  They travelled to Kealkil

to take on St.Colums in the third game of the round robin group. With conditions wet and

slippery both sides were guilty of handling errors. After 60 minutes of energy sapping

action Caheragh were unlucky to come out second best, it finished 3.12 to 3.09. The team

then faced a winner takes all game against Carrigaline.  After two successive defeats last

season to the same opposition the ladies were seeking revenge and this time they had the

added bonus of home advantage.  A sparkling opening half of football laid the foundation

for a deserved victory on a scoreline of 1-12 to 1-08.  The ladies now progress to the

quarter final stage.  On the local scene, the Juniors travelled to Skibbereen last Sunday to

take on O’Donovan Rossa in the West Cork final.  Despite a well contested first half

unfortunately the game just got away from Caheragh and Skibbereen ran out comfortable

winners.
